What is a “Similar Home”?

A similar home is a home with the similar household characteristics based on how the user has set the home profile. Similar homes gives you an insight into whether your energy usage is higher or lower compared to similar homes. If your energy usage is higher than the average, this can be used as inspiration for how much you can save, and if your usage is below the average, you can be happy that you are energy efficient.

How does Similar Homes work? / How is “SH” calculated?

We continuously collect data from thousands of homes. The more users with data and a set home profile in each geographical region, the more accurate and relevant the comparison will be.

If I have a [swimming pool/electric car/power hungry equipment] is Similar Homes something I can trust?

If you make sure to keep the home profile settings up to date at all times (even when you make changes in your home) there is higher chance that the similar homes comparison will be accurate. We strive to include as much as possible of the power hungry equipments and appliances to increase the relevancy of the similar homes comparison.
It also needs a “critical amount of data” in each group before showing any insights.

I know that I have a very “energy efficient home”. How come that the Similar Homes comparison says that I consume much more energy than others with Similar Homes?

If you think that’s the case, please make sure to review and fill out the entire home profile options. If you still think you are compared in a faulty way you might be in a small group. This will normally improve over time as the user base in each geographical region grows so we recommend you to check back in a couple of months time.
